Corporate presentation
At VLC Photonics, we specialize in pure-play photonic design and testing services, offering turn-key engineering solutions for Silicon Photonics and III-V semiconductors to meet the intricate demands of diverse markets. Our state-of-the-art infrastructure, advanced equipment, and extensive expertise allow us to deliver precision-tailored innovations across sectors like datacom, quantum technologies, metrology, sensing, LiDAR, and bio-photonics.
We follow a One-Stop Service model, ensuring that our customers can find everything they need in one place. This approach highlights convenience and efficiency, as clients can access a full range of services without needing to coordinate with multiple providers.
Our comprehensive offering includes:
- Consultancy: We assist in specifying circuit functionality, defining component requirements, selecting the optimal material platform, and providing techno-economic analysis.
- Design: From developing new building blocks and performing tolerance analysis to simulating circuits, routing opto-electrical layouts, and ensuring designs are ready for testing and packaging, we cover every aspect of the design process. Our design services also include Layout vs. Schematic (LVS) and Design Rule Checking (DRC).
- Manufacturing: We broker fabrication processes, whether through generic or custom technologies and manage both dedicated and Multi-Project Wafer (MPW) runs, ensuring smooth and reliable production.
- Testing: Our testing services encompass visual inspection, component-level measurements, functional design evaluation, system-level measurements, and test assemblies, all performed with the highest precision to ensure product reliability and performance.
- Packaging & Assembly: We offer end-to-end packaging services, from carrier and housing design to die attachment, optical alignment, electrical DC/RF contacts, and package assembly, ensuring that your photonic circuits are assembled with accuracy and care.
Role in the project
VLC will contribute to the project by:
- Developing a new stable and scalable photonic integration foundry platform for Al2O3, which can be accessed by external designers through a mature Process Design Kit (PDK).
- Enabling a new material platform for applications operating in the ultra-violet wavelength range, and spanning up to C-band with native optical gain, that helps to serve customers mainly in the biosensing and quantum domains.
- Developing expertise and capabilities to characterize and test photonic integrated circuits in the UV range.
